Date-Do: Enjoy A Romantic Dinner At This Must-Try Fusion Resto

Plan your Valentine's date ahead to avoid the rush. Reserve a table at this classy restaurant that serves special dishes you and your man would love.

It's V-Day in a few weeks, and if you want to make it extra special this year, you and your honey should decide as early as now how you want to spend it and make plans accordingly. If you want a romantic dinner at a classy restaurant that serves rich dishes you both will enjoy, then reserve a table soon before other couples beat you to it.

Where To Go:

We suggest you try something new, and Le Fusion by Chef Don Ho Restaurant and Lounge at The Fort is a good choice. The restaurant serves delicious, one-of-a-kind food that are surprisingly affordable. Owner Chef Don Ho, who trained in Le Cordon Bleu, applies French techniques to serve you various cuisines from around the world. The restaurant itself has a light, very American vibe, with cozy tables covered in crisp linen on the dining floor (ground) and plush private booths cordoned off by velvet curtains at the VIP area of their second-floor lounge. Classic Hollywood icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and James Dean give the resto a more laid-back, less intimidating feel.

What To Try...For Starters:

The creative dishes are the real stars of this restaurant, from the appetizers down to the desserts. For starters, the Empanada (P195) is a good choice. The European-inspired puff pastries are filled with beef, pork, and Filipino longganisa, and enhanced with Mexican salsa, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo sauce. You should also try their bestseller, the Liempo Tacos (P295), which are flour tortillas topped with tasty liempo, shredded cabbage, and crispy chicharon, served with homemade guacamole and nachos. Delightfully sinful!

If you're in the mood for soup, try the New England Clam Chowder (P265), a rich, creamy soup filled with Manila clams, bacon, potatoes, carrots, and celery. It's served with a buttered baguette that's already a treat in itself. (Trust us, you'd want to order an extra serving of that bread!) Follow this with the Chinese Chicken Salad (P495), made with Chef Don's own Asian-style dressing and topped with crispy wonton strips, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, green onions, crunchy carrots, mandarin oranges, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

The Main Event:

After you get your fill of appetizers, it's time for the main courses! You simply must try the Seared Salmon (P595), which is served with shrimp bisque on a bed of rich, buttery mashed potatoes. If your man is a seafood lover, he might want to order the Giant Shrimp and Risotto (P595). They serve one of the biggest pan-seared tiger prawns you've ever seen in the metro over authentic risotto with rare shiitake mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Chef Don's wife, Annalou, shared with us that their staff goes to the market early in the morning daily just to score these huge prawns that are carefully chosen to meet their standards (every serving has consistently large prawns).

For your meat dish, order the Premium Angus Rib-Eye Steak (P1,995), which is big enough for you and your guy to share. Actually, you can go on a double date and a serving of this juicy steak would still be enough for the four of you. The USDA-certified 16oz. slab of tender, marbled meat is heaven on Earth! Pair it with a side dish, like the fragrant, savory Rosemary Fries.

Sinfully Sweet Ending:

It might be a challenge to leave room for dessert after all the huge delicious dishes with a fusion of flavors you just consumed...but you must. Le Fusion offers homemade desserts that are absolutely divine. You and your man might want to share the Triple Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream (P145), a rich chocolate and fudge brownie, served a la mode. (What did they say about chocolate being an aphrodisiac? Hmm...)

Another one of our faves is the Creme Brulee (P155), which has just the right amount of sweetness and an irresistible hard caramel crust. Banana lovers who want a unique take on their fave fruit should try the popular Banana Jo's Bread with Vanilla Ice Cream (P120) or the Banana Foster with Vanilla Ice Cream (P145). For a romantic twist, you can also savor the rich Strawberry Panna Cotta (P145) with your man.

The experience of trying out all these fusion dishes with your man would make your Valentine's date special indeed. Again, be sure to call ahead to make reservations. Launch the gallery to see photos and more detailed descriptions of all our favorite dishes!
