The Funniest Local Memes Of 2025

What hafen Vella?

You know a meme has reached peak humor when nearly decade-old TV footage suddenly comes back to take over your FYP. That's exactly what happened when Cristopher Diwata appeared on It's Showtime's "Kalokalike Face 2: Level Up" portion, impersonating Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black. In classic dramatic fashion, he delivered the line: "What hafen Vella? Why you crying again?"—lines that had absolutely nothing to do with Twilight but somehow became pure Internet gold.

Fast forward 12 years, the clip resurfaced and went viral, with TikTokers and celebs recreating the scene. Even Taylor Lautner himself noticed(!), leaving a playful comment online. Cristopher has since embraced the fame, scoring brand deals, shoutouts, and event appearances. It's proof that viral chaos can pay off—literally.

Hot Maria Clara

Sanya Lopez's 2022 single went from "Wait, she had a song?" to everyone's unexpected earworm, the kind you first laugh at and then catch yourself belting out in the shower because the campy lyrics refuse to leave your brain.

The resurgence didn't just stop at jokes, either. "Hot Maria Clara" climbed Spotify Philippines' Viral Songs chart, gathered new edits left and right, and even had Netflix Philippines referencing it in a throwback post of her historical drama Pulang Araw. It's a pretty impressive second life for a song that some may have missed when it first dropped.

Who Is "Hot Maria Clara" And Why Is She Trending Online?

Sobrang Latina

If 2024 had "Very Demure, Very Mindful," then "Sobrang Latina" is the 2025 version. We have content creator Sesable to thank for the new self-love affirmation, which she exclaimed over her 10/10 well-defined and bold glam look. The exaggerated nature of the phrase became the new go-to expression to anyone (or anything) looking snatched AF.

Vice Ganda's "Crazy" dance

Who would've thought a few signature moves from Vice Ganda synced to LE SSERAFIM's "Crazy" would turn into one of 2025's biggest dance crazes? It all started when TikTok user @poot180000 paired the K-pop song with an old clip of the Unkabogable Star busting out her playful choreography on It's Showtime's "Tawag ng Tanghalan" segment. Since then, the craze blew up that National Crazy Day was born (on April 28, 2025), and LE SSERAFIM themselves hopped on TikTok to post their own rendition.

The appeal of this trend is simple: no perfect choreography required, just good vibes, playful confidence, and a willingness to have fun. From celebrities to content creators, everyone jumped in, proving that sometimes letting loose and embracing the craziness is exactly what 2025 needed.

Alden Richards' Tongue-Out Pose

We love to throw in some silly and goofy poses every now and then, but the Internet seems to love it even more and refuses to forget about it. Let Alden Richards' classic tongue-out moment be proof of that. Back in 2018, he was photographed with the tongue out-eyes squinting-hand on his forehead pose, which automatically gave birth to a lot of imitations online. The photo became the default reaction image for anything mildly confusing, dramatic, or nakakakilig.

"Tayo ay nasa fine dining restaurant"

Toni Fowler proved once again why she's a viral queen when an evening dinner inspired a series of food skits set to her spiel and paired with sappy music. In an episode of the third season of her reality show ToRo Family, Toni called out Micaela Marcelo for inappropriate table manners during a dinner with plastic surgeon Dr. Eric Yapjuangco (who also made his entry to the trend), and his wife, Vina Yapjuangco. And yes, you guessed it—it was in a fine dining restaurant. Though she was visibly angry at the time, her exaggerated delivery and witty phrasing quickly turned the moment into pure online entertainment.

Kianna Dy School of Dance

We all know Kianna Dy as a volleyball superstar, but when she's not on court, she's teaching classes at her confidence-based dance school on TikTok. The "Kianna Dy School of Dance" started as a meme when followers fell in love with her stiff, off-beat, but undeniably charismatic moves. Soon enough, everyone started submitting their "applications" to the school by dancing exactly the Kianna Dy way.

As long as your moves are delightfully awkward, rhythm-optional, and powered by pure vibes, you're basically a guaranteed passer. So if you think you can KKDance, enrollment is still ongoing!

What Is Kianna Dy's 'School of Dance'—And Why Is It Our New Favorite Thing On TikTok?

No kidding—we're loving this confidence, Kianna dear.

Aljur Abrenica's singing

Aljur Abrenica has entered his musician era, and our FYPs are thriving because of it. It started with short covers of Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" and Bamboo's "Tatsulok." But everything changed the moment he dropped his version of "Past Lives" by BØRNS. The delivery was raw, emotional, and occasionally off-key, which made it both entertaining and naturally ripe for playful edits.

That now-famous "Hooooo woooOOOOoo" line became a favorite audio for scenic clips—serene forests, dramatic oceanside cliffs, or cinematic snowy landscapes. Somehow, Aljur's vocal ad lib ended up as the soundtrack to those calm, take-a-deep-breath moments online.

"Kuya natanggal"

Safety first(!) because we know how motorcycle taxi rides can get a little wild. The line traces back to a video where a passenger only mentions—very softly and baby-like—that her helmet shield had already fallen off after the motorcycle ride was over. Cue the kuya rider's confused "hA?" This sparked a wave of recreations, with everyone trying their own pabebe (👉👈) versions, including Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales.

Sierra Madre Baddie Pics

ICYMI: There's a new baddie in town, and it's the Sierra Madre. After Super Typhoon Uwan, the mountain range known as the "Backbone of Luzon" got its moment online, with social media feeds filling up with scenic pics and playful edits personifying the mountain range as a confident, unstoppable baddie. Beyond the memes and AI slop, the trend is also meant to highlight the importance of protecting the Sierra Madre and other rainforests.

Maui Wowiespanto

Don't worry, we didn't forget ya boi Maui Wowiespanto. Darren Espanto managed to sneak in one last year-ender meme with his performance of Kid Cudi's "Maui Wowie" on ASAP. What started as a fairly chill TikTok challenge featuring people dangling from poles and street signs suddenly leveled up when Darren delivered a dramatic, extra-emotional take that felt very much theater kid. From there, it was game over.

His distinct delivery turned into a new vocal stim, with creators copying the tone, facial expressions, and overall energy in "99.99% accurate" impersonations. Darren leaned into the moment, reposting edits and poking fun at himself—because if you're going viral anyway, you might as well enjoy the ride.

Leave it to the Filipinos to turn every little moment into meme-worthy gold. Thanks to that, 2025 has been full of laughs and nonstop online entertainment. Which local meme was your ultimate fave this year?
