ICYMI: You Can Now Get A Digital Copy Of Your LTO Driver's License

Do you already have a driver’s license? If yes, here's some good news: You can now avail of a digital version of it, as announced by the Land Transportation Office (LTO). Even better, motorists may use the digital license without being cited for a violation, even if they're not carrying their physical card license at the time.
The LTO announced that the digital copy of a driver's license is now accessible through the eGov App, the government’s official one-stop platform for national and local government services, including digital IDs.
"Hinihikayat natin ang lahat ng mga driver na gamitin ang mga digital na opsyon na ito, ngunit tandaan na tiyakin na ang kanilang digital na lisensya ay laging updated at wasto upang maiiwasan ang anumang abala," LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao announced.
What You Need to Know About the E-Driver's License
You can access yours using the eGovPH app on your phone or by visiting the LTMS website.
Currently, there are two ways to access a digital copy of your driver's license: via the eGovPH app or the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) website.
If you choose to access your license through the LTMS website, simply log in and enter your account details. Once you are directed to the dashboard, click "DIGITAL ID," and your driver's license will automatically appear on the screen.
Alternatively, you may download the eGovPH app from the App Store or Google Play. After successfully installing the app, create an account and complete the required security verification. From the home screen, tap the NGAs icon and scroll until you find the Land Transportation Office.
Important note: When presenting your digital driver's license to a traffic enforcer or during any legitimate transaction, screenshots will not be accepted. You need to open and display the digital license directly from the app or website in front of the officer, so make sure you have a stable connection for seamless access!
You can settle penalties online.
In the event of a traffic violation, be reminded that traffic enforcers are no longer allowed to confiscate physical driver's licenses (nor should drivers hand over their digital copies).
The LTO instead advises motorists to promptly settle any penalties, which can now be done online through the LTMS website, too! Payments may be completed without the need to return to the location where the violation occurred. Drivers are given 15 working days to settle the corresponding fines. Failure to do so might lead to suspension or revocation.
It's only applicable for existing driver's license holders (not first-timers).
It's important to note that the digital driver's license is only available to existing and valid license holders. If you need to renew, you may do so on the LTMS website without the need to go to an LTO branch.
Reminder: First-time applicants must still personally visit an LTO office to complete the application process, including the required training, examinations, and certifications, before a driver's license can be issued.
