"I was just wondering how a model my size would look on this," Sirokai captioned the photo, which she posted to Instagram in December 2017.
Sirokai says she wants her photo to encourage high-fashion brands to think beyond conventional beauty standards. "I was always told by my peers in college that I don't belong in the modeling industry," Sirokai wrote in an e-mail. "I wish I had someone to look up to in this industry when I was growing up."
Sirokai also hopes her post will inspire women to love their bodies the way they are—which she believes would be easier if more brands included a range of diverse body types. "You can admire someone's beauty, like Gigi's, while also appreciating your own," Sirokai says.
This isn't the model's first celeb side-by-side featuring a similar message. In , Sirokai recreated a Kim Kardashian swimsuit photo, captioning it, "WE ARE BOTH WOMEN with DIFFERENT BODIES."
