Apple's New MacBook Neo Is Here—And It's Surprisingly Affordable

There's a new addition to Apple's MacBook family: Everyone say hi to MacBook Neo, or Neo (for short). The launch is just hot off the press, having been announced just mere hours ago. It already has everyone talking about its new fun colorways—in blush pink, no less—and, most importantly, its very affordable price point thatdoesn't sacrifice durable and smooth performance. Here's everything you need to know to get acquainted with Neo.

The MacBook Neo is the newest sibling of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, and is Apple's most affordable laptop ever, with a starting point of P39,990—we know, we know, compared to the starting price points of its siblings (which start at P72,990 and P109,990 on the Apple site, respectively), it's a great jump in terms of savings. This makes it more accessible to even more young professionals and students.

MacBook Neo's debut also comes a hot minute after the launch of another affordable Apple flagship phone model, the iPhone 17e.

But the spotlight is on Neo now, and we're going to talk about what people can expect from it. Take, for example, starting with what powers it, a.k.a the Apple A18 Pro chip—which can be seen in some iPhone models. The iPhone 16 Series, to be more specific. You can breeze through everyday tasks, like answering e-mails, making presentations, going on Teams meetings, and video calls, among others. It's also built for Apple Intelligence, so it will kind of feel like you have a reliable buddy to help make things easier for you, too.

Compared to the MacBook Air 13-inch (M5), this has a smaller Liquid Retina display at 13.0." It also has a smaller storage and memory, starting from 256GB storage and 8GB unified memory. They do weigh the same at 1.23 kilograms. Thank goodness, because we don't want to always feel like carrying the world on our shoulders with heavy-duty laptops. It's thin and has rounded corners, which makes it easier to slip in and out of laptop compartments.

When it comes to battery life, you can get up to 16 hours of video playback on a single charge. It has a built-in 36.5-watt-hour lithium-ion battery and can be charged with a USB-C charge cable. It has two USB-C (USB 3 and USB 2) ports, which can be used for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

One of the things people are raving about the all-new MacBook Neo is the fun colorways that you can get it in. Case in point: the Blush Pink and Citrus hues that are just absolutely adorable. It might make you more productive as you lug it around when you're out and about. Of course, Neo is also available in the classic Silver and, for a simpler touch, Indigo.

You can also choose whether or not to have a Touch ID—for better privacy—on your Magic Keyboard. The fingerprint scanner will make logging in easier and more convenient, especially when you're in public.

While there is no exact date yet as to when it will arrive or when pre-orders will be available, we did spot the MacBook Neo through a post from Power Mac Center and Beyond the Box. So far, they seem to be the only distributors who announced they were going to carry the laptop.
