PSA, Furparents: Your Cat Can Finally Join You On Your Next Domestic Flight

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) recently announced the addition of cats on their FurPAL program months after welcoming small dogs to join their pet families’ in-cabin on all domestic flights, making it easier to bring furbabies along for the ride without having to leave them behind or worry about sending them to the cargo hold, for a one-way fee of P2,500, subject to applicable requirements and guidelines.

Launched in November 2025, the FurPAL program initially covered flights to Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao, and is offered as an add-on to a passenger's flight booking. What's a getaway without your favorite four-legged travel buddy?

Before you start planning your next beach escape with your furry plus-one, there are a few things furparents should keep in mind.

Pets must travel in a soft-sided, leak-proof carrier with pee pads and at least two ventilation panels, with the combined weight of the pet and carrier not exceeding 10 kilograms. Each passenger may bring one pet, which must remain inside its carrier and under the seat in front of them throughout the flight.

You'll also need the required health certificates, updated vaccination records, veterinary certificate, PAL waiver and declaration form, and a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry. Pet sedation is strictly not allowed.

For added peace of mind, PAL also said its flights are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters that eliminate up to 99.99% of airborne particles, while cabins are cleaned with high-grade, eco-friendly agents before every flight. 

"By welcoming cats alongside dogs, FurPAL enables more pet families to travel with the companions they consider part of the family," PAL said.

Whether you're heading to the beach, visiting family in the province, taking a quick work trip, or simply treating yourself to a much-needed getaway, travelling doesn't always mean having to leave your furbaby behind. After all, some trips are simply better with your favorite travel buddy by your side!
