PSA: South Korea Is Extending Its Simplified Visa Application For Filipino Travelers

Published on Nov 3, 2025
If Seoul searching has been on your 2026 bucket list, then this is your sign to start planning. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines just announced that they're extending the simplification of visa application documents for another year from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
Yup, that means less paperwork (and less stress) for Filipino travelers who qualify.
The Simplification Of South Korean Visa Application Documents For Filipinos
What does this mean for Filipinos traveling to South Korea?
If you have certain Gold or Elite credit cards from select banks, you can skip submitting financial proof documents like your Bank Certificate, Bank Statement, and Income Tax Return (ITR) when applying for a Korean tourist visa.
This privilege applies to both credit card holders and their immediate family members—that includes your parents, spouse, minor children, and even adult children who can prove they're still students.
Which credit cards qualify for simplified South Korean visa applications for Filipinos?

Here's the updated list of accepted cards under the simplified application:
BDO
BPI
RCBC
Metrobank
PNB – Included starting January 1, 2026
Note: These include Gold and Elite card types for all banks. Supplementary cardholders are not eligible for this exemption.
What documents do you still need to submit to apply for a South Korean visa as a Filipino?
You'll still have to provide other general requirements like your visa application form, valid passport, and passport-size photo, but instead of financial documents, submit the following:
Certificate of Employment (original)
Photocopy of your credit card (front only, showing full details)
Photocopy of the latest three months of credit card billing statements
If you're applying as a family member, make sure to include proof of relationship (like a birth certificate or marriage certificate).
Why does this matter?
With South Korea continuing to be one of the top travel destinations for Filipinos—thanks to its K-drama backdrops, street food scenes, and cafe culture—this simplified process is a huge win for those who've been itching to visit (or revisit) without the hassle of too many documents.
So if you've been dreaming of strolling along Namsan Tower, chasing cherry blossoms in spring, or eating tteokbokki by the Han River, better check if your card qualifies.
For full details, you can visit the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines' website.
Note: As of January 3, 2023, the travel agency accreditation system has been abolished. You can apply for a visa on your own by booking an appointment directly with the Embassy or through the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in Manila.
