The service was made with pet parents and their fur babies in mind. According to Grab’s blog, the service allows not just dogs and cats, but other types of pets as well, including turtles, hamsters, rabbits, and fish!
The company said that pets should be accompanied by human passengers. In addition, pets must be transported with a leash or crate with a muzzle for dogs, a crate for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters, a sealed bag or a closed fish tank for fish, and a closed container for turtles.
GrabPet will accept a maximum of two medium pets or one large pet per ride. While the service is pricier than the regular Grab ride, passengers are sure that they can get to their chosen destination safely as there is added insurance coverage for pets.
Grab’s roll-out of its newest service is in line with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) memorandum that came into effect on April 15 that allows pets to travel on public utility vehicles.
