A Fire Is Ravaging Forests In Benguet

More than 20 hectares of pine trees have been devoured.

A fire has been devouring the forests of the Cordillera mountains since the afternoon of February 19.

As of February 21, reports claim that over 20 hectares of pine trees had already been destroyed by the fire in Sitio Nalseb, Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. 

This is the second fire that has occurred in Benguet in February. An earlier fire took place which took nine days to extinguish.

The cause of the forest fire has not yet been confirmed.

In 2019, there was a significant increase in wildfires in Brazil's Amazon rainforest, the worst in a decade. 

Record low rainfall also affected Australia, which experienced massive bushfires in 2019. Over five million hectares of the land area was destroyed.
