In a statement released to Cosmo.ph this morning by her lawyer Atty. Marvin B. Aceron of APV Law Offices, ABS-CBN anchor and showbiz reporter Gretchen Fullido says she appreciates the public’s reaction to her filing of sexual harassment and libel cases.

She also said that she wishes to thank the public for the support, adding, "All I can say is these are public records now. The public can do their research and verify. Please just pray for me in these difficult times."

On October 5, 2018, Atty. Aceron accompanied Gretchen to the City Prosecutors' Office of Quezon City. There, Gretchen filed a case against Cheryl C. Favila, former ABS-CBN News Executive, and Maricar P. Asprec, ABS-CBN News Segment Producer, for sexual harassment.

In her complaint affidavit, Gretchen says that the two have sent her "text messages that were loaded with sexual innuendos, which amounted to requests for sexual favors." And when she rejected the advances, the two retaliated and made it difficult for her to work as a reporter and news anchor for TV Patrol. It was going on for almost three years.

On July 16, 2018, the ABS-CBN management released a decision that dismissed the sexual harassment case against Cheryl, but found her liable for gross misconduct and dismissed her from the company. Gretchen attached a copy of the ABS-CBN Investigating Body’s decision to her complaint.

Yesterday, October 6, Evalyn Ursua, counsel for Cheryl and Maricar, released her own statement, which reads: "It is unfortunate that Gretchen Fullido has chosen to pursue a criminal complaint of sexual harassment against my clients, despite that same complaint [having] been previously dismissed as baseless after a thorough formal investigation within ABS-CBN."

Ursua claims that the text messages used as evidence were "distorted and maliciously taken out of their message threads." She also calls the charges "baseless" and "a classic example of discrimination against LGBTQ individuals and gender stereotyping."

Also implicated in the case are ABS-CBN news executives Ces Drilon and Venancio Borromeo, as well as news reporter Marie Lozano. Gretchen and her lawyer filed libel cases against them for supposedly attempting to ruin her reputation after she had filed the sexual harassment complaint against Cheryl and Maricar. According to Gretchen, they said she did so to leverage her employment status at the network.

Yesterday, Ces released a statement on her Instagram account. She said, "I encourage and support women to exercise their right to come out with truthful stories of harassment and abuse, and I would never belittle any such move. I was asked to testify in an internal, confidential investigation, and some of what I said during the investigation has been distorted."

Venancio and Marie have not commented on the issue so far.
