“Mas chill na ang biyahe.” That’s the promise of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3) management as they installed 33 new air conditioning units bought by Sumitomo-MHI-TESP.
In a Facebook post on November 22, the MRT3 administration said, “Mas magiging chill na ang biyahe ng ating mananakay dahil sinimulan na kagabi, Nobyembre 21, 2019, ang pagkakabit ng karagdagang 33 brand new air-conditioning units (ACUs) sa mga bagon ng MRT-3!”
In total, the MRT-3 installed 120 brand new ACUs worth P167 million purchased by Sumitomo under the comprehensive rehabilitation of the MRT-3. According to the post, the MRT-3 management began installing ACUs in August.
According to a report from GMANews, Sumitomo, the private contractor hired by MRT-3, is also in charge of “replacing all mainline tracks, rehabilitating power and overhead catenary systems, upgrading signaling, communications, and CCTV systems, and repairing all of MRT3’s escalators and elevators.”
