Netizens couldn't help but get romantic as they shared their personal photos of the solar eclipse that occurred on December 26.
"Luna" was a trending topic on Twitter, as users captioned their solar eclipse pics with quotes from Sol and Luna, the romanticized story between the sun god (Sol) and the moon goddess (Luna).
One story goes that Sol (the sun) would shine his light on the world every day, and when his light would fade, Luna (the moon) would come out, in the form of a beautiful woman. She had to die every night right before Sol's light would shine again. But once every year, when his light was at its dimmest, Luna would dance towards Sol and kiss him, leaving afterward without a word. Despite only meeting once a year, they fell in love with each other. Aww.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA), the solar eclipse is called an "annular solar eclipse," wherein the moon is farther from Earth and would only partially cover the sun. It was visible between 12:36 p.m. and 3:47 p.m, with the maximum eclipse happening at around 2:19 p.m.
