On the evening of January 28, the moon and Venus were visibly side-by-side in what is called a "moon and Venus conjunction.
U.S. space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) describes a conjunction as "a celestial event in which two planets or a planet and the moon or a planet and a star appear close together in the night sky."
According to the U.P. Astronomical Society, the moon and Venus will "share the night ascension," and will be visible from Quezon City from "around 6:06 PM and will set at 8:39 PM."
Netizens who were lucky enough to witness the event took to Twitter to share their photos of the star and the crescent moon, making "Venus" a top trending topic on the social media platform.
