A Filipina named Lara Montales, 21, is making headlines for graduating summa cum laude from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the US. In a report by Manila Bulletin, Lara earned a bachelor of science degree in economics, majoring in finance and business analytics.
Her journey at Wharton began in 2014, after she graduated from her high school, the Philippine Science High School Main Campus.
Lara is not new to great achievements. She finished elementary at the Colegio San Agustin-Makati as the batch valedictorian, and she received high honors upon graduating from high school. Manila Bulletin also states that she has already won math contests in the international arena.
Lara will be working in a consulting firm in Chicago, but not before coming back to the Philippines for a short vacation.
On May 17, Lara wrote on her Facebook account, "My very first profile picture at Penn was with the LOVE statue, so it's only fitting that my last one be with the LOVE statue as well
"So thankful for the love that I have given and received at this school, for the friends I have met and the families I have found, and for the home I have made. Until next time, Penn."
Check out this video we found of Lara, who says she will definitely miss college. The video is from the YouTube channel of the Penn Philippine Association, which, according to their Facebook page, "serves to promote the awareness and appreciation of Philippine culture at the University of Pennsylvania."
