6 Secrets Behind the Perfect Kiss

Follow these tips to spice up your make out sessions!

There’s nothing quite like the power of a kiss. But let’s face it—not all kisses are memorable. Some of your experiences may have been awkward, sloppy, or even downright disgusting, but hey, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a bad kisser. Maybe you just need to tweak your style a bit.

According to Michael Christian, author of The Art of Kissing, kissing plays an important role in a relationship because it fosters romantic compatibility. He adds that men's biggest mistake is that they're too aggressive with their tongues, while men claim that women don't open their mouths wide enough.

The lack of variety was cited as the biggest kissing complaint for both men and women, which is why it’s important to use your other body parts like your hands to intensify the kiss. If you want the kiss to be memorable, make sure it’s pleasing for both you and your partner. Follow these tips to spice up your make out sessions:

1. Tease your way into it. Start by planting gentle kisses on the neck, moving slowly towards the ear, then finally the lips. The sensual teasing will definitely get you and your man worked up and excited.

2. Use your hands. Pamela Weiss, a marketing director in Los Angeles, suggests putting your hands on your partner’s neck while kissing to add passion and intimacy.

3. Get in the zone. "Put your whole body into the kiss," says Marilyn Anderson, author of Never Kiss a Frog: A Girl's Guide to Creatures from the Dating Swamp. "Without words, your lips should say, 'Baby, there's more where that came from!' There are ways to keep it fresh and new all the time."

4. Don’t overthink it. Just enjoy the moment and focus on the sensations of the kiss.

5. Talk about it with your partner. Let each other know what turns you on and what kills the mood. If you’re comfortable enough with each other, it shouldn’t be a problem to voice out your desires and pet peeves.

6. Practice makes perfect. Make the most of your alone time by experimenting with different kissing styles.
