Even if you're the partner to orchestrate a breakup, it can still be really awful. Not only have you now got to adjust your life accordingly (what will you do with all that extra time?), but chances are some horrible things happened in the run up to the end of your relationship. Breakup convos can get nasty, and are usually utterly emotionally exhausting.

Shocking twist: Those who had been told the spray would wash their woes away went on to feel much less emotional, their brain reacted differently when they spoke about their broken relationship, and they found it easier to deal with the pain.

So what does this teach us? The scientists said just thinking you're doing something that could help ease the pain, does actually ease the pain. It's all in the mind, baby. Basically, do stuff that you think will make you feel better (we're thinking hanging out with your best pals and living your best goddam life), and it probs will.
