Not all couples love showing off their love in public. Some prefer to stay in their own bubble, as their love for each other grows stronger. Case in point: Chie Filomeno and Jake Cuenca.
In 2023, the two celebrities left subtle hints that they were already dating. And though fans have been supportive and even thrilled about their relationship, Chie expressed her preference to keep things private as it is.
Admittedly, the Kapamilya actress shuns the idea of exposing more details about her current relationship with Jake. But it's not because things have been tough between them. In fact, Chie strongly pointed out that they are really happy together.
"We're happy. We're really happy. And keeping things low-key," she said in an interview, reported by PEP.ph.
But there are reasons why Chie to try a low-key relationship. One of those is her desire to be her own person, despite her relationship with another celebrity. She noted that this is also her first time officially dating an actor.
"Siyempre I just don't want to be Jake Cuenca's someone or significant other," she declared, adding that Jake respects her decisions no matter what.
Chie added, "Siyempre we know naman na he's already Jake Cuenca, but to think na parang nirerespeto niya 'yung gusto kong mangyari, 'yung time...So, he's very respectful sa aspect na 'yan and I'm really happy."
More than that, Chie thinks it's best to navigate through a relationship when there are fewer people involved, or in other words when fewer people are meddling. "Well, usual pa rin kung ano 'yung private life. It's not a secret. So I'm just keeping it private para hindi na maraming tao mag-meddle din," the actress conveyed.

In May 2023, buzz about their seemingly blooming romance at the time began. And it all started when eagle-eyed netizens noticed Jake leaving sweet comments on Chie's IG posts more often than usual. At first, it might really have been just a normal friendly bond between Chie and Jake, until he made the first public statement about romancing Chie.
People wanted answers. So the press asked Jake if there was more to their ~friendship~. Jake's intriguing answer was, "I’m admiring her. I guess I can say that,"
Months later, Chie admitted how kilig she felt after knowing that she made Jake happy. "To be honest, wala nang ano, wala nang showbiz-showbiz, kinilig ako, as in. Kasi, finally, someone sees [this side of] me," she said in interview. "Aside from my friends, my family, my supporters, nakakatuwa na may isang lalaki na vocal sa nararamdaman niya. And, the little things, yun yung na-appreciate niya."
