Here's How Mercury Retrograde Is Going to Mess With Your Love Life

Watch out: the planet of communication is wreaking havoc until May 22.

I know, it feels like it just was, but Mercury is now retrograde—again. (We get to deal with it four times in all this year. Woo. Hoo.) From April 28 to May 22, the planet that rules everything related to communication, technology, and transportation will move backward, making your life go haywire. But even though Mercury retrograde has a rep for turning everything to garbage, it's also the universe's way of giving us a chance to tie up old loose ends—on big projects, goal-setting, and yep, relationship issues—so that we can finally move forward with even sparklier confidence. Here's what every sign can expect.

Aries (Mar. 21–Apr. 19)

Mercury's retrograde in your second house, throwing cash matters into a tailspin. You might be tempted to impulsively drop major money on a date or vacation with your bae without getting all the details on the deal. So, double-check the specifics (and probs your bank account too) before booking that Airbnb.

Taurus (Apr. 20–May 20)

Lucky you. Mercury's moving backward in your sign aka your first house, which has to do with personality and your sense of self. So don't be surprised if you feel all out of whack and start looking for validation from your partner. Better though would be working on ~*feeling yourself*~ right now. (Figuratively—but literally's good too.)

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

Even though everyone else may be all spring fevery, you may still feel like hibernating. That's because Mercury is retrograde in your 12th house, which deals with nebulous, deep shit like spirituality, dreams, secrets, and the subconscious. So, if you want to delete Tinder (even temporarily) or spend more nights in binge-watching Grey's with your partner, just freakin' do it. You're obviously allowed to take a hiatus from being the queen bee of your social circle once in a while.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

That hot guy you met at the gym in January? The high school friend who you haven't seen (well, outside of Instagram) in eons? They're just a few of the randos from the past you're bound to encounter now that Mercury is moving backward through your 11th house of friends and networking. If you're single, sparks could very well fly with one of these people—maybe when you cross paths at a mutual friend's party. If you're attached, why not plan a get-together that includes your partner and some old friends? Right now's all about mixing and mingling.

Leo (July 23–Aug. 22)

Work could very well be aggravating AF right now, because Mercury retrograde is happening in your 10th house, which rules career. You're probably going to have to go back to the drawing board on big projects in order to earn the recognition you deserve. Lean on your partner (or current fling) to handle all that tension by sneaking in a bang sesh whenever you can.

Virgo (Aug. 23–Sept. 22)

With Mercury moving backward in your ninth house—which rules philosophy, long-distance travel, and higher education—you'll probably want to reexamine big picture goals. Bouncing your new game plan off of your partner could lead to a deep, intellectual conversation, which may also get you both all hot and bothered and ready for loud, headboard-banging sex.

Libra (Sept. 23–Oct. 22)

Mercury's retrograde in your eighth house, which rules sex, so your best bet is to be super explicit about your desires and dislikes. For instance, don't snap him nudes, because given the current astrological aspects, you'll end up sending them to your boss or something. But telling him that deepest fantasy that you've kept under wraps until now could play out quite well.

Scorpio (Oct. 23–Nov. 21)

With Mercury retrograde in your seventh house, which rules everything related to partnership, you might feel like you're speaking a completely different language than your bae or rehashing the same damn argument. If you're single, someone who ghosted you may resurface. Basically, you'll have to get in touch with your patient, understanding side—or just channel Bey and tell him, "Boy, bye."
