Adrian Lindayag just married the love of his life. The Filipino actor proudly announced his wedding to his non-showbiz partner, Michael Dychiao. In case you're wondering if the two got married in the Philippines, they didn't.

Adrian and Michael, who have been together since 2015, flew across the world to the United States, where they had an intimate wedding ceremony in the city of New York after a decade of romance. And as it's been the case for a lot of celebrity couples, these lovebirds all had to fly to a foreign country to have the wedding of their dreams: simple, legal, and accepted.

That's something many queer couples can't have in the Philippines. To this day, same-sex marriage remains unrecognized. It's a sad fact, but the call for equality and inclusivity only grows louder.

Below, we share with you more LGTBQIA+ celebrity couples who have opted to tie the knot outside the Philippines.

Tim Yap & Javi Martinez

After one year of being engaged, Tim Yap and Javi Martinez got married in a simple and intimate ceremony in the US. Not only did they have an unforgettable wedding, but they did it on Christmas Day of 2017!

In an interview with Preview, the couple shared why they got married in The City That Never Sleeps. Javi revealed that it was because of their love for musical theater. "We haven't had the chance to go to New York together to enjoy Broadway productions," he said, adding that it was initially meant to be their Christmas vacation. "It was a break that we both needed after working so hard this past year. We decided to start planning our civil union at the same time we were planning the trip."

Javi also told Preview that it was Tim's idea to keep the ceremony low-key. "It was actually Tim’s idea to keep it simple. We are used to creating huge and extravagant productions for our clients," he expressed. "I'm [usually] busy taking care of every single detail, but this time I wanted to enjoy with Tim and just focus on ourselves, without having to face an audience. This time, we wanted to focus on our message for each other."

In 2023, Tim and Javi had their second wedding ceremony in Amanpulo.

Ice Seguerra & Liza Diño

Ice Seguerra and Liza Diño are among the couples who tied the knot abroad. The two got married in 2014 in San Francisco, California.

A year after their California wedding, they decided to hold another "symbolic wedding ceremony" at Kota Keluerga Resort in Laiya. At the time, Liza expressed their desire to celebrate their union with their families, and to also have that traditional walking down the aisle moment for the bride.

"We're doing this because we didn’t get to celebrate with our family... I wanted to experience being walked down the aisle by my parents. Some people recommended the Metropolitan Church, but we never intended to make a statement out of this. We're doing this just to express love for each other," Liza told Inquirer in 2015.
