Behind The Scenes: Retro-Inspired Holiday Fashion In The December 2011 Fashion Ed

See how we created the looks and layouts for this month's modern disco fashion spread, "Night Fever"!

Night Fever Dec 2011In this month's issue, you may have noticed a fashion editorial that's quite different from any we've done before. The "Night Fever" (pp. 178-185) fashion ed is a groovy eight-page spread that features five models posing at the poolside of Cocoon Boutique Hotel in Quezon City, wearing the latest in retro-inspired fashion.

Fashion director Ana Kalaw explains the concept behind the shoot, saying, "Seventies was really big this year, so we wanted to recreate that for our December fashion ed. It's different from our usual party-club editorial, so we decided [to] put it in a pool [setting]. We put together a lot of different models and had all of them smiling, and happy, and partying by the poolside."

Check out the modern disco fashion pieces, among which you'll find paisley prints, flower accessories, bell-bottoms, jumpsuits, ruffles, and flowy jerseys--all of which are perfect Christmas and New Year party outfits. (Check out the spread in the magazine so you'll see the details and prices of the pieces plus the store info.) Ana recommends choosing vibrant colors if you want to stand out: "Cosmo is about [being] bold and fun, so we made sure to add a lot of bright colors like blues, reds, yellows, and mustards."
