COLOR BLOCKING: A Bright New Trend To Road Test

Summer may be drawing to a close, but here's a way to keep the brightness of the season in your wardrobe much longer, as seen on this sartorial show.

We're sure your closet is stocked with summer staples by now--sexy swimsuits, maxi dresses, flip-flops, and light tops! But, with the rainy season threatening to come earlier than we would want it, these summer items will prove to be less and less practical. So, if you want to prolong the summer vibe in your outfits, go bright and mix and match bold-colored pieces.

To serve as your visual guide to enterting color blocking territory, we scoped out the new collection of The Ramp Crossings, which they presented at an upbeat fashion show in Glorietta recently. Topbilled by celebrity endorser Andi Eigenmann, the fashion show presented the latest collections from their in-house brands Amber, United Pop, Faith Hope Love, The Ramp, Mundo, and Possibility. They also included pieces from other brands like Analog Soul, Apartment 8, Cole Vintage, Cosmopolitan, Pill Clothing, Salsa Trends, Schizo, Seven Confessions, and Willow.

The key trend that was prominent in all the collections was color blocking, which simply means putting together different brightly colored articles of clothing to form one hot clash of an outfit. Pair your bright shirts with even brighter shorts, and step out of the house looking and feeling brilliant, no matter what weather.

If you're still not sure where to start, try tackling the trend by starting off with the primary colors: red, blue, and yellow. For better visualization, check out the photo gallery of looks we saw on The Ramp runway.
