Emma Watson kicked off what's sure to be an exhausting press tour for Beauty and the Beast on Sunday night in Paris. But rather than make it all about the movie and how fabulous she looks at each event, she's spotlighting sustainable fashion—an issue close to her heart—with a new Instagram account called @the_press_tour.
If you've been following Emma at all in the past few years, you've realized she rarely makes a fashion choice that isn't eco-friendly. This is the girl who showed up to the Met Gala wearing an outfit made out of recycled water bottles, after all.
Last night was no exception, as Emma wowed in a cobalt blue, asymmetrical dress by Louis Vuitton that was custom-made out of 100 percent recycled polyester. The off-the-shoulder crop top part is also made from a suede alternative created at a carbon-neutral mill. Even her black leather booties were eco leather. All of this was detailed on the new account.
At a second appearance the next day, Emma wore a shirt and trousers from Oscar de la Renta, which were made with organic silk and certified by environmental consulting agency, Eco Age.
The new account makes it clear that eco-friendly to Emma means animal-free too. When writing about one #OOTD, Emma praised Stella McCartney as "the world's first luxury brand that is committed to producing products that do not use leather, skins, feathers, or fur."
More of this, please! These individual pieces are awesome, but how great would it be if designers like Louis Vuitton and Oscar de la Renta didn't need an extra nudge from Emma Watson to make sustainable clothing?
