Makeover Special: Cosmo Dares Readers To Get New Hairstyles

Click through behind-the-scenes photos and see how we transformed three lucky readers chosen for Cosmo's June 2011 Beauty Makeover Special!

We know that keeping up a regular beauty regimen is tough work. Daily makeup and skincare routines are time-consuming enough that it's too easy to become lazy to even try messing with your ever-reliable, wash-and-wear hairstyle. While we're all for the carefully tousled fresh-out-of-bed look, sometimes you need a drastic change to make you feel confident enough to flaunt your crowning glory.

In this month's issue of Cosmo mag, we featured the daring makeovers of three Cosmo readers. Makeover Special: "Dare To Be Gorgeous" (pp.86-90) showcased the amazing finished looks of 27-year-old law student Nikki Lim, 18-year-old student Jesrhel Co, and 24-year-old mom of two Meg Gohing. You've already had a sneak peek at them in Creations by Lourd Ramos Salon, but now you can see the complete changes the girls went through from start to finish.

All Chopped Up

Is your long, straight hair weighing you down? Be inspired by Nikki, who went from long to short in a heartbeat. Cosmo assistant beauty editor Regina Belmonte explains, "We wanted to emphasize her gorgeous face, so we gave her a very chic bob with layers."

Makeup match: Her makeup was also very bold, with a bright pink lip—which Regina notes is "completely on trend"—serving as the focus of her face.

Flirty Fringe

If you're too attached to your lengthy locks, try vamping up your look instead with a new style. "It might not look like much to you at first, but full bangs take commitment," says Regina. Jesrhel came in sporting side-swept bangs, which Lourd shortened into a straight fringe for an edgy look.

Makeup match: Lourd swiped a peachy coral lip color to bring out her puckers without distracting from the new cut.

To Dye For

Ready to go all the way with a brand new look? Take a cue from Meg, who went through the biggest transformation of them all. Regina says, "We wanted to make this rather exhausted mom of two little boys va-va-voom gorgeous. So Lourd decided to give her very loose waves—it's like a vintage, retro bombshell look, but modernized. And we went with red dye to give her a very vibrant pop of color."

Makeup match: Regina suggests finishing the look off with a coat of scarlet color on your lips. "You can't have your bombshell vintage look without your red lipstick!"
