Apparently, Adding Salt To Your Shampoo Can Make Your Hair And Scalp Less Oily

Say goodbye to greasy locks!

Having greasy hair during hot summer days is unbearable—it feels heavy and you could end up with breakouts on your forehead and temples. YouTuber Nikkia Joy, however, found an easy way to combat oily locks. Keep on scrolling to know more:

Nikkia shared that she has tried multiple tips for greasy locks in the past, like limiting the number of washes for her hair and using dry shampoo. But, she said those hacks never worked for her until she tried out a tip she saw from Pinterest: Adding salt to your shampoo.

Now there is actually some logic to this hack because there are actually existing salt scrub shampoos that help cleanse and detoxify your tresses. Try Nikkia's trick if you don't have access to the said products.

She put a tablespoon of salt in her regular shampoo and gave the bottle a good shake to dissolve the granules. (You can use any kind of salt, but Nikkia used Himalayan pink salt.) She said that she didn't have to change up her routine or the way she shampooed her locks. But, she was able to see a huge difference after just three to four washes.

The salt helps control the overly-active sebaceous glands in the scalp and regulates the amount of oil it secretes. It also detoxifies and exfoliates your scalp, washing away all the buildup, especially if you like applying serums or sprays to your hair.
