Q: How do I avoid tired eyes over the holidays?
"After a long night out, you'll want to first ice your eyes to bring down any swelling or puffiness," makeup artist Joanna Schlip says. "Also, keep a bottle of eye drops in your refrigerator—the formula will help contract enlarged blood vessels in them and ultimately make the whites of your eyes look whiter and brighter."
When it comes to makeup, Schlip preaches less is more when you're tired. Just stick to using concealer to cover up any dark circles and some mascara on your top lashes only to keep the focus away from your bottom lashes, which could draw attention to the dark circles you're trying to camouflage. Whatever you do, don't add liner on the wetline of your eye because it can make them irritated even more.
"Lastly, stay away from any eyeshadow or liner with red undertones," Schlip says. "Only use cool tones like a navy, gunmetal, or black—these will help brighten your eyes instead of contribute to the look of redness."
Here's to looking gorgeous 24/7!
