These New Names Will Create Beautiful Looks For You

Shu Uemura names the artists who will be creating trend-setting looks at the conclusion of their makeup competition.

A beauty editor once said, "There's enough room for everybody" in the beauty industry. Which is probably why we never run out of fresh local talents doing fabulous faces for our magazine pages, advertisements, television, not to mention pegs for makeup looks we would eventually follow.

In the same spirit, Shu Uemura held a nature-inspired Beauty Art Make-Up Competition which had its finals on October 14 at the Power Plant Mall. Two ladies were proclaimed winners that night, Angelique Dinglasan and Grace Deang, who will join Shu Uemura's roster of makeup artists and represent the Philippines in the regional finals at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The two ladies stood out from six finalists who underwent a series of screenings and lessons under Shu Uemura’s makeup associate team and eventually showcased their skill and talent by creating a Mother Nature-themed look for the final judging.

Angelique Dinglasan, who bagged the Level 1 spot, received her makeup background from the London College of Fashion - University of Arts, where she initially wanted to take up fashion design but decided to shift to learning makeup. This proved a good decision, indeed! Upon her return to the Philippines, she dabbled in doing makeup for magazine shoots and weddings. She has certainly found her passion in makeup, enhancing people’s beauty with her artistic and creative gift.

Meanwhile, Grace Deang, who garnered the Level 2 spot, started makeup as a hobby with friends until she decided to take it further by attending several workshops like those in Il-Mikiage New York, Kryolan San Francsico, and Trmptu NY. Grace sees make-up not only as a means to transform people’s looks but also as a way to empower women so they can gain more confidence.

Aside from taking home such prestigious recognitions, both received an Ultimate Brush Set worth P50,000 and a Makeup Box worth P40,000.
