2019 was definitely the year of skincare—there were so many trends that dominated our Insta feeds, from internet-famous gels, miracle exfoliants, and different tools and devices. Today, we take a trip down memory lane and reminisce on all the skincare fads that came and went in 2019:
It's no lie that the Korean beauty industry heavily influences the rest of the world's—they did introduce the famous 10-step skincare routine, after all. But this year, we cut down the steps on our regimen and started using multi-tasking products that cater to different skin concerns. This practice encourages less waste and more savings. Read all about the "Skip-Care" trend here.
Gone are the days when ingredient lists were filled with stuff that we can't even understand—this year, brands became more transparent with what they put in their products.
This 2019, we threw out the "one-size-fits-all" ideology when it comes to skincare products. Brands started creating more ~*customized*~ routines that target your concerns and needs.
Skincare routine not limited to your face.
This year, we realized that skincare regimens aren't just limited to our face—the rest of our bodies need it, too! We were big on kilikili routines this 2019—we applied toners, creams, and powders.
We used to only rely on physical exfoliators such as walnut or apricot scrubs, but this year, we realized how they can cause micro-tears in our face that can lead to scarring. We switched over to ~chemical~ exfoliants like AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) to gently unclog our pores and smooth out our skin.
