Jessy Mendiola has had a dreamy mermaid tattoo on her right wrist for a while.

But on Wednesday, she had her mermaid tatt transformed into a *~whale shark*~ and had a diver added right next to it! The two new tattoos symbolize the time she went scuba diving with boyfriend Luis Manzano at Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, and got up close and personal with the sea creature! She said in a message interview, "It's very memorable for me because it was my first time to see a whale shark. It has always been a dream of mine to see one up close."

According to Jessy, she opted to just cover up her old tattoo—instead of placing the new ink somewhere else. Adding another tatt in a different area will only mean that MUAs have more spots to cover up  during shoots.

As for who created Jessy's new ink, it was none other than tattoo artist Wiji Lacsamana! ICYDK, Wiji is famous for her watercolor tatts; she specializes in creating designs that look like carefully painted illustrations.

If you want to get your own pretty watercolor tattoo from Wiji, be prepared to shell out at least P2,500. In a message interview with her, the artist said, "Then it (the price) goes up from there, depending on the intricacy of the design, the actual size of the tattoo, and the placement."

Wiji also recommends you do the following to ensure the hues don't instantly fade: "Rinse your fresh tattoo with clean water and mild, unfragranced soap. Then, apply a thin layer of mild, unfragranced ointment or moisturizer on the tattoo twice a day for two to three weeks. It is important to put only a thin layer of moisturizer, [because] you need [the tattoo] to be moisturized but not so much that it never dries down."

Since tattoos are wounds that may eventually scab, she adds that you shouldn't scratch or pick on it. "If you must, tap it lightly or apply a cold compress to ease the discomfort." Once your tatt has healed, "apply sunblock on it regularly, especially if the area is always exposed to the sun."
