Pinoys love films that are scary, sometimes gross, thrilling, heart-stopping—basically, anything that makes us scream! It's time to grab some popcorn and a blanket because here's a list of horror movies from the past year we all loved:
A Quiet Place
This film, which stars real-life married couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where even making the slightest sound could be fatal. The couple and their children have to survive amidst creatures who hunt by sound, while going through some ~intense~ family drama.
A young nun at an abbey in Romania takes her own life, so the Vatican sends a troubled priest and a novitiate (a nun-in-training) to investigate. Together, they uncover the order's *unholy* secret and must face a horrifying creature that takes on the form of a demonic nun.
Fun fact: The actress who plays "the nun" in the film was also in The Princess Diaries!
When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham clan, passes away, her daughter's family begins to discover weird, disturbing, and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. Charlie, Ellen's granddaughter, had an unusually close and secretive relationship with her when Ellen insisted on breastfeeding (OMG WHAT?!) baby Charlie herself.
In the not-so-distant future, a mysterious entity takes the form of people's worst fears and causes them to commit suicide. Basically, if you see "it," you'll die. Malorie (Sandra Bullock) and her two children go through a dangerous journey to find shelter and a new community, and they have to complete the trip blindfolded.
Insidious: The Last Key
In the latest installment of the film series, parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier (played by Lin Shaye) takes on her most intense case yet. She has to confront and destroy her greatest fear—the demon that she accidentally set free years earlier in the house she grew up in.
