Big Bang's G-Dragon Just Got Discharged From South Korea's Mandatory Military Service

G-Dragon completed almost two years of military service!

Big Bang’s G-Dragon has been discharged from his two-year mandatory military service!

According to a report, the 31-year-old singer, known in real life as Kwon Ji Yong, completed almost two years of military service. G-Dragon was discharged at the headquarters of the South Korea Army’s Ground Operations Command in Yongin.

Some 3,000 supporters of Big Bang’s band leader gathered in cold weather and their efforts paid off when G-Dragon emerged from the building at around 8:00 a.m.

G-Dragon offered a 90-degree bow, and told his fans, “I have returned after successfully wrapping up my mandatory military service, and I want to thank you all for waiting for me, and also thank you for coming today. Now that I am no longer a soldier, I will now return to my career as a singer and give my best efforts.”

Soompi reported that G-Dragon enlisted in the army in February 2018 and he served in the 3rd Infantry Division, also known as the “White Skull” or skeleton unit at Gangwon Province.

Originally composed of five members, Big Bang made their debut in 2006. Other members of the popular K-pop group who are still serving their mandatory military service include Daesung and Taeyang, who will both be discharged in November 2019. Meanwhile, former Big Bang member Seungri announced his retirement from the music industry in March 2019 when he was embroiled in charges “of supplying prostitution.”
