On May 12, the Parokya Ni San Guillermo Facebook page posted an album titled Tawag Sa Ikakasal with photos of "wedding banns" of soon-to-be-married couples—one of them being showbiz couple Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez. In it contained personal information like their full names, ages, their parent's names, and the exact date and location of their wedding!
Mark your calendars, everyone, cause Tom and Carla are set to be wed on October 23, 2021, at the Madre De Dios Chapel in Tagaytay Midlands.
Naturally, this Facebook post went viral with thousands of people commenting on the photo. While most congratulated them on their union, some cheeky netizens joked and wrote "Saan ang reception?" and "Uninvited guest here!"
In case you're wondering WHAT this document is and WHY it was publicly posted in the first place, we gotchu. A wedding bann is also known as a marriage bann or tawag sa kasal (hence the title of the Facebook album) and is a document required by church and law to publicly announce a couple's union. The wedding bann is usually posted within the premises of a church. Carla also posted her own explanation of their wedding bann and added that "it is a necessary step to be able to secure a wedding permit."
Well, the more you know! Tom and Carla were first paired in the 2013 hit GMA drama My Husband's Lover, got together as a couple in 2014, and were engaged in October 2020—but only publicly announced it in March 2021.
While we can't wait for their October wedding, we really wanna know: How do we RSVP? Lol!
