In her acceptance speech, Catriona said that one does not need a title or a crown to be able to do good work for the community. "Thank you so much for this honor for recognizing the work that I do, for my different cause groups and it is really a fulfilling job that I do. Every time I get the opportunity I always want to tell people that you do not need a title or a crown or a position or a certain platform to be able to do good work and get involved in your community," Catriona said.

An advocate of human rights, Catriona once denounced the discrimination of a trans woman in a Quezon City mall who simply wanted to use the female restroom. Catriona said that the incident "only highlights further the Philippines' need for implementation of the #SOGIEEqualityBill. LGBTQ+ rights are HUMAN rights—mga karapatang pangkaligtasan at kalayaan mula sa diskriminasyon, karahasan, at pagmamalupit batay sa pagkakakilanlan."
