Chie Filomeno Responds To Rumors About Her Dating Life With A Bold Call For Privacy

Chie Filomeno has made it crystal clear: What she chooses to share (or not) about her personal life is entirely up to her—and TBH, she's right.

On September 29, the actress released a statement via Instagram Stories addressing the series of unconfirmed news reports linking her to businessman Matthew Lhuillier. Chie pointed out that while celebs may live in the spotlight, this doesn't mean their every move is everyone's business.

"I've been reading and hearing a lot these past few days, and I ask that my past relationship, my present life, and the Lhuillier family be left out of this issue. They don't deserve to be dragged into something that has nothing to do with them," she wrote in her Instagram statement.

Chie boldly added, "I may be a public figure, but I am not public property. I ask that my private life remain private."

Aside from intriguing speculations between Chie and Matthew, the Internet has been all over Chie and her romance with Jake Cuenca, which seemingly ended in private. The two reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram and have remained quiet on the issue.

But despite the Internet's curiosity over Chie's relationship matters, she proclaimed on Instagram, "No further statements will be made at this time, and I kindly ask that people refrain from speculation or intrusions into my private affairs."

ICYMI, Chie and Jake reportedly started dating in 2023. The two didn't directly admit their romance at first. But they were leaving "subtle hints" here and there to paint how in love they were with each other.

But despite everything, Chie once declared that she wanted a low-key relationship. "I am really private with my relationships before, and right now kasi first time ko ever like may naka-date in this industry na naging public. Yeah, we are taking our time," the actress said in August 2023.

Chie and Jake's relationship was confirmed a year after Jake's breakup with Kylie Verzosa. In December 2022, Jake posted a crying selfie, which people speculated was the aftermath of his split with Kylie.

Following the somewhat controversial breakup from his previous romance, people once labeled him a "red flag" in a relationship, as if to warn Chie—but the actress chose to defend Jake.

"I think kasi 'yung mga tao ang bilis nila mag-conclude na ganitong tao si Jake kasi sa mga nakikita nila or nababalitaan. But alam ko at alam natin kung gaano kabait si Jake, kung gaano siya kamaalaga and hindi siya red flag guys. Hindi siya red flag," Chie said in a 2023 interview.
