As if the movie itself wasn't already magical enough, these special Chinese movie posters promoting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them are enchanting. I mean, come on, look at them. It's as if Harry himself designed them with a whip of his wand! (OK, Harry was never particularly artistic, this is more Luna's thing.)
They're actually the work of Chinese artist Zhang Chun. Chun created the six movie posters inspired by gongbi, a Chinese painting technique involving detailed brushstrokes that dates back to the Han Dynasty.
Unlike traditional Western posters that capitalize on a film's A-list celebrities, each of Chun's creations features a different magical creature from Fantastic Beasts: the niffler, demiguise, occamy, thunderbird, bowtruckle, and swooping evil.
The images are currently going viral on Imgur, because of course they are. They're beautiful! According to Collider, the posters were gifted to the Fantastic Beasts cast, director David Yates, and producer David Heyman during the movie's promotional tour in Beijing. For Muggles, they're of course still portraits, but for the wizards among us, the creatures move. Lovely.
