If there's one thought that's been hanging like a heavy raincloud in every girl's mind since news hit that Kristen Stewart was cheating on BF Robert Pattinson, it's this: "What was she thinking?" (Runners-up are "Rob, if I were your girl, I'd never do that to you" and "Breaking Dawn Part 2 is still a go, right?")
The third party in question is Rupert Sanders, director of Kristen's latest blockbuster, Snow White and the Huntsman. The two were caught making out by paparazzi last week, and resulting photos published in Us Weekly on July 24 immediately caught fire.
What's worse in this shocking showbiz drama, Rupert is a 41-year-old married man with two young kids, while Kristen is only 22. What's even worse, Rupert's wife, model and actress Liberty Ross, plays mother to K-Stew's character in Snow White and the Huntsman, and they have been snapped on the movie's promotional circuit huddling like newfound BFFs with co-star Charlize Theron.
On July 25, Kristen issued a public apology to People, saying, "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry." Rupert, too, has released a statement to People expressing regret over the pain he has caused his family, and that he is "praying that we can get through this together." Liberty has issued no public statement, although she did take to posting thinly-veiled comments on Twitter and Instagram when the news hit--and promptly suspended her Twitter account and changed privacy settings on her Instagram soon afterward. The only one we haven't heard a peep from is R-Pattz, who RadarOnline reports is "still shocked" over this whole thing, and is keeping mum until he figures out his next step.
UPDATE: People reports that Rob has left the Los Angeles home he shares with Kristen. The actor has been described as "heartbroken and angry" by a source, and with good reason. In an interview earlier this year, the actor made his views on infidelity clear: he could not understand why people cheat, as he himself is "not the casual-affair kind of guy."
