It's been weeks since American Murder: The Family Next Door dropped on Netflix, but the true-crime documentary is still on the streaming site's most-watched list. It told the horrifying story of Chris Watts, who murdered his pregnant wife Shannan Watts and their two daughters in 2018 because he wanted a "new life" with his mistress Nichol Kessinger. The docu was told through police footage, home videos, and text messagesinstead of interviewswhich made the viewing experience all the more "real."

1. Chris Watts: Confessions Of A Killer (2020) 

Believe it or not, the case became a Lifetime movie. The movie recreated many of the scenes we already saw in American Murder, including the heartbreaking video where Shannan told Chris about her pregnancy. According to ABC News, Shannan Watts' family "denounced" the movie and said that "Lifetime never contacted them for input." 

2. Chris Watts—2000 Page Discovery Murder, Mystery & Makeup (2019) 

This makeup vlog by Bailey Sarian introduces viewers to a lot of details that weren't in the Netflix documentary, including police reports about Nichol Kessinger's Google search history. 

3. Chris Watts: Criminal Confessions (2019) 

In this December 2019 documentary from Oxygen, "investigators speak for the first time on one of the most baffling cases they've encountered, exposing the devastating truth about what happened to Shanann Watts and her two daughters at the hands of seemingly devoted husband and father, Chris Watts."

Okay, so this one's a podcast, if you prefer listening to a commentary about the case for a change! It was released in December 2018, the same year Chris Watts committed the horrible crime.
