Former BIGBANG Member Seungri Enlists For Mandatory Military Service

Former BIGBANG member Seungri enlisted for his mandatory military service in the South Korean army on March 9.

According to a report from Soompi, Seungri enlisted at the 6th Infantry Recruit Training Center in Cheorwon County, Gangwon Province. The K-pop singer did not respond to any questions asked by the press on his way to the training center.

Seungri is set to receive five weeks of basic military training and will serve as an active-duty soldier, the report added.

Meanwhile, a report from AllKPop noted that there were no fans to bid him goodbye.

The singer was originally scheduled to enlist in the military on March 25, 2019, but it was postponed to a later date to allow him to participate in ongoing police investigations, Soompi reported.

On January 30, Seungri and nine others were indicted in the Burning Sun case without detention for mediating prostitution services, habitual gambling, and violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act.

Seungri announced his retirement from the entertainment industry in March 2019. He wrote: “I decided on retiring from the entertainment industry as the issues that I caused a societal disturbance with are too major. Regarding the issues that are being investigated, I will be investigated diligently and reveal all the suspicions.”
