Coldplay performed on ASAP Natin 'To on July 11 and it's bringing back memories! The massive British band brought their new single "Higher Power" over to the variety show. People were super hyped up to see the rock stars "on" the local stage, and in honor of their performance, we round up a couple more times global stars have done the same!
Rock out to the most memorable international acts to light up the Pinoy variety show stage:
1. Coldplay
We think you'd appreciate this short clip of frontman Chris Martin and lead guitarist Johnny Buckland inviting folks to tune in! And yes, that is Chris' admirable attempt at saying "Kapamilya" with his English accent:
And here's the band performing "Higher Power!"
2. Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa went all out for her Pinoy fans when she visited us in 2017. This was back when Dua Lipa had her first global hit "Blow Your Mind," a track she performed on the ASAP stage in May. She even went on board the Wish 107.5 Bus where she performed "Blow Your Mind" and "Lost In Your Light!" We're still not over how effortlessly she belted out the dance track, the adorable "mwah" included.
3. David Archuleta
American Idol alum David Archuleta brought Christmas early when he visited in 2017 (Who are we kidding, Christmas starts July in the Philippines). He had a concert in October but also went all out with appearances on It's Showtime (where he sang a Christmas song), Eat Bulaga, and even the Wish 107.5 Bus!
4. Miley Cyrus
The Disney star was fresh out of her Hannah Montana days when she visited the Philippines back in June 2011. While she didn't actually perform a song on stage, it was obvious by all the wild cheers that she didn't even need to! She shared that Manila was the only Asian country she was stopping by for her "Gypsy Heart" tour "just because of the fans." Miley Cyrus had a one-night-only concert on June 17, 2011, at the SM Mall of Asia.
5. Katy Perry
Yup, Katy Perry rocked out on It's Showtime too! She treated fans to a live performance of "Hot N Cold" back in 2009 before she held her first Manila concert on November 14, 2009. We're loving the wild energy of this fan-cam video (from before fan-cams were even a thing, really).
6. Backstreet Boys
The '90s truly were a different time. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Kevin Richardson visited the Philippines sometime in 1996 and blessed us all with this live performance of "Get Down (You're The One For Me)" on the ASAP stage. The boy band had just had their global debut with the launch of their first studio album, Backstreet Boys, that year.
Bonus: Hailee Steinfield
Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfield visited the Philippines in 2016. The actress and singer, who is of Filipino descent, performed her track "Rock Bottom" on the It's Showtime stage in April—but it's her chat with Boy Abunda that has us really smiling. Watch her try to make it through a "Fast Talk" segment alive!
