First there was Janine Tugonon, then Kelsey Merrit. Now there's another Pinay who booked a project with Victoria's Secret, and we couldn't be prouder! Italian-Filipina Ambra Gutierrez shared the good news with Cosmopolitan Philippines, and we had a little catch-up sesh over Facebook Messenger.
New York-based Ambra shared that she had the casting call two months ago. "I feel like everything can be achieved with hard work, even the most crazy dream possible," she said. The photos will appear on the website of Victoria's Secret, and we cannot wait to see them!
Here's a preview on Ambra's Insta:
So what's next for this 26-year-old model? "I'll start a podcast with Univision here in NYC! And I'll interview people about their experiences and how they overcome difficulties so that they could help others." Ambra is a supporter of various charities, and you can find them plugged in her Instagram account. She also does photography during her travels—check out her photos here! Speaking of traveling, we asked Ambra when we'll see her in the country again: "I'll be coming soon to Philippines! I miss it so much!" she answered.
Saying the model has been through a lot is an understatement. On October 10, 2017, The New Yorker released a recording of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein coaxing Ambra into entering his hotel room; the audio proof was obtained after Ambra agreed to wear a wire to meet Harvey the day after he assaulted her in 2015. Many women have come forward since then, building momentum for the #MeToo movement spearheaded by actress Alyssa Milano.
Weinstein has since been charged with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse, and sexual misconduct, but he was released on a $1 million cash bail at his arraignment. Weinstein was ordered to surrender his passport and to wear a monitoring device that tracks his location. Watch this space for updates.
