Jake Cuenca Breaks His Silence On "Non-Breakup" With Chie Filomeno

Jake Cuenca finally spoke up about his relationship with Chie Filomeno.

For months, everyone's been talking about Jake and Chie's alleged breakup. So now, Jake's finally setting the record straight. While Chie has chosen to keep silent, Jake addressed the rumors head-on in a recent press interview, saying that indeed, the chapter has ended; however, no breakup occurred.

"I'm good—it's a lot to take. Ang daming nangyayari, ang daming sinasabi ng mga tao. But I think I can officially say that that chapter of my life is over now," Jake first told the press on October 7, 2025. It's the first time he's opened up about his rumored breakup with Chie.

And although in the past tense now, it seems Jake's finally in a place where he can talk about it. "To be quite honest with you, I can at least say na I really loved that person deeply. For me, I respect that person 'til today," Jake added.

The actor further noted how he wants the best for Chie despite the end of their romance. "I might not have a lot of time to process everything and accept everything—for me, pag mahal mo naman talaga ang isang tao, you wish them all the happiness in the world. You want them to be happy. You want them to be loved as well," he said, closing the topic with calm and grace.

As some press members pushed for more from Jake, he then stated, "There wasn't a breakup. There's no breakup." His statement wasn't to dismiss whatever he and Chie had in the past.

Jake strongly clarified, "Like I said, I loved that person deeply. Hindi wala lang yon. That was incredibly important for me. But that chapter is over now. Have to accept that."

So, although there was "no breakup" between them, clearly, there's no Jake-and-Chie anymore. The ex-couple reportedly started dating in 2023. The two didn't directly admit their romance at first. But they were leaving "subtle hints" here and there to paint how in love they were with each other.

Chie and Jake's public connection started a year after Jake's breakup with Kylie Verzosa. In December 2022, Jake posted a selfie of him crying, which people speculated was the aftermath of his split with Kylie. Fast forward to today, Chie and Jake are no longer seen commenting on each other's Instagram posts or hyping each other up on social media.

Meanwhile, just a week ago, Chie released a statement saying she's choosing to stay silent amid all the buzz about her relationship with Jake. She also made it clear that Matthew Lhuillier and his family should be kept out of the conversation—after all, reports have been linking him to Chie as her rumored new flame. But as of now, nothing has been confirmed.

"I may be a public figure, but I am not public property. I ask that my private life remain private. No further statements will be made at this time, and I kindly ask that people refrain from speculation or intrusions into my private affairs," a part of her statement read.
