Kris Aquino was one of the first to comment. “Nobody else can write that next chapter BUT you. Own it, live it, and be proud of it!”
Julia’s sister Claudia Barretto said, “You’re perfect.”
Dani Barretto wrote, “DAMN GIRL.”
Julia has gone through torrents of criticism since being linked to Gerald at Rayver Cruz’s birthday party on July 21, 2019. The narrative going around is that Gerald ghosted Bea to supposedly be with Julia. (Why Julia, not Gerald, seems to be getting most of the public criticism—we’ll leave you to say #DoubleStandards and #sexism.)
Julia came under fire again on the night of August 6 for confronting Bea on Instagram. She wrote in part, “Bea, you wanted to keep your hands clean by not mentioning me in your controversial post, but with a click of your finger, in your sly way, you have charged everybody to destroy me FOR YOU.”
She added, “You can play the victim all you want, but I refuse to be your victim.”
Many fans believe that Julia and Bea are both victims of Gerald, so it was unfair of Julia to make Bea look like the bad person.
Kris, who comforted Bea and defended Julia, put it well. She told an Instagram user recently, “Obviously, alam natin mahal ko si Bea, but ‘di ba unfair to judge Julia, because why do we always blame the girl? I can already feel Gerald fans will blast me for this, but I have always told Bimb, ‘Hindi mahirap maki-break. Respect someone you cared about enough to give them closure. Then move on.’ Ganun lang kasimple ‘yon. Masakit ang goodbye pero mas masakit ang hindi worth a goodbye. So please respect women.”
