ICYDK, Kris Aquino and Derek Ramsay were supposed to star in the horror film (K)Ampon that was going to be an official entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. However, the film will no longer push through because of a missed deadline.
Here’s the sitch: Derek backed out of the film on August 2 due to scheduling issues. Replacing Derek was Gabby Concepcion, but production house Quantum Films made a request to change the film's leading man on August 5 which was filed five days late.
On Instagram, Kris posted why the film will no longer push through. She wrote, “Pinalaki po ako to ABIDE by the RULES. Hindi po kami ang lead producer ng (K)Ampon. So, unfortunately, my return to horror was not meant to be for MMFF 2019.” The actress also said that she looked forward to working with Gabby once again as they both started their acting careers in Regal Films.
In her next post, Kris posted a quote talking about her past. The photo included a lengthy caption as she aired out how she felt about the film’s cancelation.
Kris said, “Friday, August 16, was supposed to be a good day. We secured funding from a [Philippine] conglomerate that has always supported me.”
“But I didn’t want to be “that girl,” yung ginagamit ng friendships and “palakasan,” kaya tinanggap with humility na hindi tamang panahon para sa (K)Ampon,” Kris wrote.
Kris continued, “Ano nga ba pakialam niyo sa movie na hindi matutuloy? It matters to me because please learn from my pain, I hope missed deadlines will matter a lot. Holding on to your values and principles will define you now and in the future. And it’s okay to not always be the brave girl when something that INSPIRED you is now gone, dahil gusto mong patunayan na pantay-pantay nga tayong lahat.”
