Before Stormi Webster came into our collective lives and blessed us with the face of an absolute nugget, her mother Kylie Jenner had to pick the perfect name. In an interview with makeup artist James Charles, Kylie said she changed her mind at the very last minute.
She liked nature names, which is what brought her to the general category of Stormi. "Storm was on there—just Storm. And then I was like, I kinda want '-ie' like me, so then I did Stormie with '-ie.'"
On February 4, Kylie announced her baby's birth to the world, and she waited until February 6 to reveal the name. She was convinced she would keep it as Stormie, but she wanted time to sit on it before announcing.
"It was always Stormie with an '-ie.' I bought custom things for her that said her name, '-ie.' I bought her the blocks, '-ie.' I didn't fully choose her name, I wanted to have a week of just me and her to see if I wanted to change it. I had one other name in mind, but Stormi always felt like her name from when she was in the womb. It's almost like she chose her name."
The plot twist actually came when the people from the birth certificate office (is that even a thing?) called Kylie to confirm, they asked her how she wanted to spell the name and she said Stormi, on a whim.
"They were like, 'you sure?' and I'm like, 'yeah, just an i,'" she said. "Literally right then and there I just changed it to an 'i.' Then I hung up the phone and I was like, 'Damn, guess that's her name.'"
In case you were wondering, she also thought about naming Stormi Willow, but because she's actually friends with Willow Smith she thought it'd be weird. You can watch the interview here:
