LOL! Maris Racal Thought She Heard Rico Blanco's Name On A Game Show—And Lost It

Published on Jul 14, 2025
When it comes to Maris Racal, there's never a dull moment—whether she’s delivering heartfelt lines or making everyone laugh, she always knows how to entertain.
Recently, the 27-year-old actress had a hilarious moment during her guest appearance on the reality game show Rainbow Rumble, hosted by Luis Manzano.
On the show, contestants answer trivia questions to earn rolls of a giant colored die, with each roll determining where they land on the rainbow game board and how much cash they win. But for Maris, one question unexpectedly hit a little too close to home, LOL.
During one round, Luis read out the trivia prompt: "Kumpletuhin ang hit song ng 80s American pop group na Breakfast Club...Rico ______," pronouncing the blank as "Rico blank."
True to her competitive spirit, Maris eagerly buzzed in, only to freeze as the name sank in.
"Wait...Rico what?!" she blurted out, suddenly crashing to the floor in laughter and disbelief. She had momentarily misheard the question, thinking it referred to her ex-boyfriend, singer Rico Blanco.
As the realization dawned on her that it was actually about the 80s track "Rico Mambo", not Rico "Blanco," Maris couldn't help but let out a scream and completely lose it on stage.
Honestly, we don't blame her. We'd probably react the same way, too, if we thought we heard the name of our ex, LOL!

Maris Racal's Breakup with Rico Blanco
Maris and Rico have already gone their separate ways after being in a relationship for five years. The actress confirmed the breakup during a press conference in 2024.
"Rico and I, our universe was so beautiful and was so full of love, laughter, music, everything. Sa five years namin together, we were always on the same page. Always on the same page," Maris announced.
She revealed that the split stemmed from inevitable changes in how they were navigating life together. Taking full accountability, Maris admitted that she was the reason behind the breakup.
“Maybe I turned to the next page and saw a new perspective sa life. I had visions of who I wanted to become, and how I wanted to evolve. I'm so curious about the world,” she shared.
"But the truth is, I am going through changes. Alam naman natin change is either good or bad. What I hate about change is that inevitable, hindi mo siya matatakasan. And wala ka nang ibang gagawin, but to face it,” she added.
Now, Maris is living her life to the fullest and channelling her energy into her flourishing acting career. She recently clinched international recognition for her performance in Sunshine, a film directed by Antoinette Jadaone, earning both the "Narrative Feature Jury Award" and the "Narrative Feature Audience Award" at the 2025 Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) in Texas.
Sunshine tackles the sensitive themes of teen pregnancy and reproductive health—topics that are still considered taboo in the Philippines. In the film, Maris portrays a young gymnast on the cusp of competing internationally, whose journey is suddenly disrupted by an unwanted pregnancy.
