Make 2018 the chapter that you look back on as having made a real difference in your life's story.
Aries: Read more
Reading? Really?? It's OK, Aries, you push yourself hard enough as it is. This resolution is about relaxation, free *therapy,* and mental exploration—rather than a drastic life change. A workout for your brain and fuel for your imagination. Treat it like a school project: Make a book list, order or buy them, and keep a notebook of what you've read, and what you thought about it. Mix up your list with fiction and non-fiction, favorite topics and new ones, current bestsellers and classics. Follow this through, and you will be a different (wiser) person this time next year.
Taurus: Go on a food trip
All Taureans LOVE food. FACT. This year, start your own "Food Appreciation Society" (with a membership of one) and consciously savor what is already one of your favorite pleasures. Learn to make your favorite take-out meal from scratch at home. Try a different international cuisine each month. Cook for your friends and family once a month. Start holding potluck parties (Everyone brings a dish, so, in other words, a buffet!). Read recipe books. Start a recipe journal of your own—it could become a friend for life. YUM.
Gemini: Do a detox
You're a sponge for information, influences, opinions, and emotions—soaking up everything around you. This year, make a conscious effort to regularly LOOK UP: Away from the screen, outside of your ever-running inner monologue, and just gaze. Relax. Have "thinking" time in places you like, with no agenda or objective. Shrug off what others think, worry less about their opinion. Will any of this matter in five years time? No? Then fuck it. Unfollow, unfriend, unwind. Less is more in 2018!
Cancer: Reconnect with your inner child
Childhood is never far away for many Cancerians. Your ties to, and appreciation of, the past matters enormously to you. Celebrate your personal history this year. Reconnect with your younger self by planning magical outings to see the places and people from your past. Relive childhood holidays or school trips. Scrapbook old photos and keepsakes. Organize a reunion or two. Reignite an activity you used to love doing. You know what, you still do! So much to rediscover.
Leo: Seek your family's roots
You're fiercely loyal and protective towards those you love, but how much do you really know about your roots and the people you've grown up with? Decide to become your family's designated *historian* (every fam has one) this year. Play detective and explore your family tree and history (many sites offer birth / death / marriage info freely now). Organize and frame all those photos lying around, or locked inside a device. Take your elders out for dinner and ask questions about their childhood. Seek your roots and find your feet!
Yes, I am giving you permission to release your inner OCD Queen! She needs to get out sometimes, or she gets antsy and starts obsessing where she's NOT wanted. Plan and execute a wave of decluttering across your life—starting small, i.e. makeup bag, and progressing through your car, closet, cupboards, work space, kitchen, paperwork, desktop, bathroom etc. For each space cleared, you're entitled to treat yourself to one new beautiful, indulgent addition to it. ;)
Libra: Make new friends
Everyone loves Libra, so play on this natural strength and establish 2018 as having an "Open Door" policy on new people joining your life. Make this resolution rigorous by enforcing 3 "reach outs" a month—be that via a random act of kindness, an invite, a social media nudge, a request to be introduced to someone, etc. Not each one will land, but that doesn't matter. You're unconsciously telling the Universe to bring you fresh faces. And, you know what, it will.
Scorpio: Replace a bad habit
Think about the things that boredom makes you do, which you'd like to do less of, or stop. Pick the one that bothers you. Now, by the end of January TRUST that you will have made big progress in releasing yourself from its grip, and replacing the time spent doing it with other GREAT stuff. Think of an immediate substitute for *the deed,* remove the triggers that lead you into doing it, join forces with others, plan what you'll do when you lapse (because you will), and visualize your life without it.
Sagittarius: Travel more
Travel is a teacher, and in 2018 you're going back to school. Sit down and prioritize a list of four places you want to go to, and why—even if it's just for the "perfect picture." Plan a trip with budgets and schedules! This is a considered scheme, versus your usual spontaneous plans. And the planning can be as much, if not more, satisfying than the journey or destination itself. Create a future series of highlights to enjoy. You're a citizen of The World; go explore like one.
Capricorn: Learn a new skill
Work really hard to get really good at something really new. Simple. You pick what it is, and you decide how you go about it. But "pride" is a key theme here. What would you feel really proud about having learned or undertaken in 2018? Perhaps it's a language or a practical skill like driving, dressmaking, carpentry, or jewelry making. Perhaps a work-related theme. Even a physical attribute like boxing or yoga! It's something you'll be pleased (and proud) to share with others.
Aquarius: Get involved
You're a humanist and a believer in the *big picture* of this planet's evolution. Mankind's impact on the world is not an abstract, faraway concept to you but a concern you dwell on and consider. Make a difference this year by getting involved in a cause or campaign you believe in. Do your homework, fact-check the news stories which interest you, ask questions, and learn about your place in this world. Champion something that comes to matter to you. You're a beacon for others, Aquarius. Lead the way.
Pisces: Whip your finances into shape
Pisces, you can be a BIT airy fairy with da cash. So, in 2018, you're going to do Future You a massive favor by getting totally on top of your finances and personal paperwork. Become your own Wealth Manager by paying attention to the finance sections you normally skip past and ask for advice. Go through your debts, savings, pension plan, insurances, and spending and earnings. Where are you at with each? Can you improve your return? Of course, you can.
