Paolo Contis took to Instagram to address issues surrounding his breakup with LJ Reyes, a week after LJ's emotional interview with Boy Abunda. Like LJ, Paolo chose not to reveal specific details about their separation, but admitted that he had been unfaithful to LJ during the course of their six-year relationship. "Aaminin ko, naging marupok at gago ako sa ilang taon naming pagsasama. I'm not proud of it. For that, I'm sincerely sorry. I'm truly ashamed of my actions."
Paolo Contis denies being involved with Yen Santos
He also clarified that his A Faraway Land co-star Yen Santos was not the third party and that she was "never the reason" for their breakup. Paolo says he went to Baguio to think, and that he only spent time with Yen as friends. "Naging insensitive ako about the possible effects nung issue and I invited Yen for a day para may makausap since malapit lang siya sa North din. She went there as a friend. Hindi ko naisip na madadamay siya ng ganito. I'm sorry for this."
Despite Paolo "clearing the air," it seems netizens still don't believe him regarding his relationship with Yen. "Taray naman ng friend magka-holding hands talaga?" one commenter asked, while another said, "'Wag mo na lokohin and publiko!" Paolo and Yen were spotted together in Baguio and in Manaoag Church in August. The term "Baguio" has been on Twitter's top trending topics in the PH since last night, with netizens looking for people to go with them to the City of Pines "as a friend."
Paolo says he understands people's frustrations, and that he has chosen to speak up now because other people were getting involved. The actor denied taking illegal drugs and physically hurting LJ and their children, and asked netizens to stop bashing his co-manager Lolit Solis, who has been defending him on social media.
"I was very clear to LJ when I told her I want to see and take care of Summer kahit hindi kami okay." Paolo wrote. "But I understand and respect her decision to go to the States muna. Sana balang araw makapagusap kami ng maayos para sa bata. Madami pang kailangan pagusapan pero sa amin na lang ni LJ 'yon at sana respetuhin niyo 'yon."
He also apologized to LJ, their daughter Summer, and LJ's son Aki, who are currently in the United States with LJ's family. Paolo ended his post by saying: "I will work on making myself a better person and learning from this. But for now, please respect our privacy and pray for us. Ngayon kung hindi pa po kayo pagod, please direct all your hate and bashings at me. No one else deserves it, ako lang. Thank you."
