We are obsessed with love teams here in the Philippines. We constantly come up with new "ship" names, and always keep tabs on their new projects. Love teams, however, can't stay together forever. At some point, our fave actors and actresses have to separate *professionally*.
Here are three of the biggest love teams who are now going "solo":
Nadine Lustre And James Reid
How their love team was formed: The first time they got paired was for James Reid's music video "Alam Niya Ba" in 2013, with Nadine Lustre starring as his leading lady. Their next project was the film Diary Ng Panget (2014), and that's when the JaDine love team was formed. The couple announced they were in a relationship in 2016 and recently confirmed they are living together.
Their most recent project: Never Not Love You (2018), a film directed by Antoinette Jadaone
What they're up to now: Nadine has been working on her solo film Ulan for the past couple of months. She stars as Maya, a girl who has a ~complicated~ relationship with rain. James has been focusing on his music and record label Careless Music Manila. He recently released a collab track with Billie Crawford and Marcus Davis called "Filipina Girl."
Kathryn Bernardo And Daniel Padilla
How their love team was formed: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla first became a love team on the 2011 teen-oriented series, Growing Up. Kath played Ella Dimalanta while DJ played Patrick Rivero, classmates who always fought but eventually fall in love with each other. They have since starred in multiple blockbuster films and TV series! In August 2018, Kath and DJ confirmed they have been in a romantic relationship for more than five years.
Their most recent project: The Hows Of Us (2018), a film directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina
What they're up to now: Kapamilya actress Kath is gearing up for an unexpected pairing with Alden Richards from GMA-7. The two will be starring in a 2019 film produced by Star Cinema. Daniel had his solo concert, D4, on October 2018. During an interview on Tonight With Boy Abunda, Kathryn admitted that she's not yet ready to see her boyfriend with another leading lady. Awww, Kath!
Maine Mendoza And Alden Richards
How their love team was formed: They first appeared on the "Kalyeserye" portion of the variety show Eat Bulaga! The term "AlDub" is a combination of their character's names in "Kalyeserye," Alden Richards and "Yaya Dub," as Maine Mendoza was popularly known as in 2015. Unlike JaDine and KathNiel, Maine and Alden have consistently claimed that even though they care for each other, they are just friends. Maine recently confirmed she's dating actor Arjo Atayde.
Their most recent project: Destined To Be Yours (2017), a TV series directed by Irene Villamor
What they're up to now: Maine is working on her collabs with MAC Cosmetics and is starring in the TV series Daddy's Girl! Alden is prepping for his new film with Kathryn, which will be partly set in Hong Kong. During an interview, both Alden and Kath said that they hope their fans will keep an open mind about their pairing.
