Sue Ramirez has been pretty much on cloud nine ever since she was cast in a huge project: the Philippine adaptation of the hit BBC One series Doctor Foster, entitled The Broken Marriage Vow!

The actress got super emotional when she landed the role of Lexy Lucero, the mistress of David Ilustre (played by Zanjoe Marudo). In the South Korean remake of Doctor Foster, the role of the other woman, Da Kyung, was played by Han So HeeJodi Sta. Maria plays Dra. Jill Ilustre aka Doctor Foster in the original British series, and Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae) in the Korean version.

"I got a phone call from my manager saying that there was going to be a pitch for me for a big project," Sue recalled. "Of course, I’ve missed working with ABS."

"It’s a big, big project. When they told me, I broke down crying, because I really couldn’t believe na ako yung napili nila for this role!"

Sue described her character as "a very sheltered lady because she grew up in a prominent family. But she finds love in this guy where she also finds her independence. She can make decisions on her own and she doesn’t have to rely on her parents for that decision. But, unfortunately, the guy that she met is already married."

For a time, netizens speculated Charlie Dizon would be playing the role, while Julia Barretto also expressed interest in portraying the mistress character.

The Philippine remake will be the sixth international adaptation of the British drama. ABS-CBN aired the South Korean adaptation A World Of Married Couple in 2020, which later on became available on Netflix. The series broke records as South Korea's highest-rated television drama.
