"Shoutout at ang aking pasasalamat sa 'Shop And Share,'" he said, referring to Angel and Anne's fundraising drive in 2020 which aimed to sell stars' pre-loved items to donate COVID-19 testing kits. "Ito po sina Ate Angel Locsin at Ms. Anne Curtis, nag-donate po sila ng P1 million."
According to Mayor Vico, the two actresses quietly sent the check donation to Pasig City. "Ito, walang fanfare, walang media," he said. "Ni hindi nga kami nagkita."
Pasig City will use the money as additional funds for purchasing vaccines. Mayor Vico reported that the city has already placed an order of 400,000 vaccine doses.
On March 25, both Angel and Anne shared on IG that Shop And Share had amassed P6 million in funds from the donations of 44 entertainment personalities. The money will be equally divided among Baguio City, Manila, Pasig City, Taguig City, and Quezon City, as well as the Philippine Red Cross.
"In hopes of truly flattening the curve and helping our kababayans who are most in need, in the sectors of the urban poor and working groups, we have decided it is best to donate the rest of the proceeds of Shop and Share to LGUs and an organization that now have solid COVID-19 Vaccination initiatives for members of their communities," Angel wrote. "This is in addition to the funding of COVID-19 tests conducted last year."
Some of the celebs who took part in the drive, apart from Angel and Anne, were Bea Alonzo, Catriona Gray, Kathryn Bernardo, Kim Chiu, Liza Soberano, Marian Rivera, Pia Wurtzbach, Solenn Heussaff, and Toni Gonzaga. Such generous hearts!
