Over the weekend, Yam Concepcion and her fiancé Miguel CuUnjieng tied the knot in New York (and aboard a boat, no less!) amongst their family and close friends. It's been a few days since her big day and Yam has been basking in her ~newlywed feels~ by posting snippets of their wedding on Instagram.
Her latest post, though, was a heartfelt dedication to Miguel's family, her new in-laws. Yam started off her lengthy message by looking back at the time she first met the CuUnjiengs. I will never forget the first time I met Miguel's family. I was so nervous," she said. "Looking back now, I can't help but sigh in complete relief and happiness because I had absolutely nothing to worry about. While I often thank Miguel for all the amazing things he has done for me, I think it's just as important to take the time to thank the incredible family that he comes from."
Yam then went on to write separate messages to Miguel's mom, dad, and his two siblings:
"To Miguel's mother: Thank you for your sweetness. Thank you for all the delicious home-cooked meals you make for us. You make the best lasagna and food for the gods! Thank you for taking great photos and capturing the simplest of moments. Most of all, Thank you for raising a son like Miguel :)"
"To Miguel's father: I'm so very grateful for the opportunity to know you. Thank you for accepting me into your family. Thank you for being a great example to Miguel and teaching him the importance of hard work. Thank you for all the dinners that come with the best and funniest stories from you. Thank you for always making us laugh without even trying. You are one-of-a-kind and my favorite dad I never had."
"To Miguel's siblings: Thank you for never resenting me for the amount of time your brother spends with me. Haha Thank you for being such a great sister and brother to Miguel. I love you both too."
Yam and Miguel have been in a long-distance relationship for six years. In May, Yam flew to New York, where Miguel is based, to spend quality time with him. Little did we know that the two have been secretly engaged since December 2018 (they only revealed the news in June!) and were already planning their wedding. Yam has been hustling in showbiz these past few years and has proven herself as one of the Kapamilya network's most prized leading ladies in the teleseryes Halik (2018), Love Thy Woman (2020), and Init Sa Magdamag (2021). "He waited [for] two years and has only been very supportive and understanding of my work, my career, my individual growth. Up to this day, he still is. That will never change," Yam said of Miguel in her YouTube video.
And for those wondering if Yam will be leaving showbiz for good? Well, she did say in an interview that she'll be based in America for the meantime, but she does plan to go back and forth to the Philippines: "I've worked so hard for several years sa showbiz and I feel like this is my only time to actually just enjoy the city, [may] free time. But I intend to stay here and stay in Manila. Yeah, both places. Hindi yung parang dito lang ako. Ayokong ma-stuck up dito lang."
